After looking over the news reports from this week’s “Sunday shows” I must believe that this is true. Well, at least in the minds of the “leaders” of the national Democrats. I support President Trump and what his policies are doing to improve the situations of ALL of my fellow U.S. Citizens, but because I do, I’m definitely a racist? Because I am in favor of the United States Government upholding its Article IV, Section 4 Constitutional obligation to protect the States from invasion by providing “border security”, I’m a racist? To be honest, actually I’m just confused.
So on Saturday, on the eve of the one-year “anniversary” of the Charlottesville debacle, President Trump sent out in a Tweet. And at least to the leftist race-baiters, the most racist comment ever tweeted, “The riots in Charlottesville a year ago resulted in senseless death and division. We must come together as a nation. I condemn all types of racism and acts of violence. Peace to ALL Americans!” HOW DARE HE!! Does he not realize what a totally racist comment that is? Well, at least through the eyes of the Democrat “leaders” and seemingly everybody in the “news” media.
Now, I must say that I find the President’s statement to be something that needs to be said. Again, and again, and again, this needs to be repeated until it starts to be seen as the foundational principle concerning racism in the United States. I have to ask, “Does any U.S. Citizen condone violence against a fellow Citizen, based on or regardless of their race, creed or national origin?” I certainly don’t and I truly believe that OUR President doesn’t either.
Then on Sunday afternoon, in Washington, D.C., there was a giant march of “White Nationalists and White Supremacists” to follow on the Charlottesville success they had in 2017, and a grand total of less than two dozen racist mongrels showed up. In my world of recognizing “movements”, this would be seen as an “Epic Fail”. BUT, there were hundreds of crazy leftists, “progressives”, “antifas” and other anti-American peace-niks who proceeded to assault police officers and call for assassinating or torturing President Trump. All while carrying “Love Trumps Hate” banners. You just can’t make this stuff up.
Back to the issue at hand, I believe the whole subject of racism seems to have been going backwards for at least the last decade. As a young man in Jr. High School, I was there in 1970 when the schools in South Carolina were forced to racially integrate by the Federal Government. And it wasn’t pretty. I remember that year, I was in the 8thgrade, that we were dismissed early, sometimes several times a week, because of fights that broke out between black and white students. Sometimes the fights were in the halls. Sometimes the fights were in classrooms. At least once I can remember during an assembly in the gymatorium. But by the time we came back the next year, things were pretty much back to normal. I mean there were still fights, because that’s what Jr. High School students did back then, but most were not racially motivated.
Then in the years following school, at least in South Carolina where I lived, the whole “racism” thing was pretty much isolated to the “every so often” fight over the Confederate Battle Flag and where it would be displayed at the State House. In 2000 there was a “Grand Compromise” reached which moved the flag from the State House Dome and placed it at the Confederate Soldiers Monument on the State House Grounds. And until the whole nut case shootings in Charleston in 2015, when former Governor Nikki Haley showed a total lack of leadership and removed the flag from its proper place, this was a non-issue. This action seemed to be a crescendo moment in the 8 years of divisive, racist “Identity Politics” pushed by the first ever half-Black President and his Democrat Party.
Then Donald Trump was elected President and the Republican Party was for sure the Party of the racists. Really? Well, to listen to the Democrat “Leaders”, the whole Trump Campaign was just an appeal to the racists across the Country. And now, every time the President speaks, he is just appealing to his “racist base”. I hope the Democrats will continue to push this same narrative, all the way to November, because I know that my fellow U.S. Citizens in general are not racists and will reject being told they are.
God Bless America! And America, please Bless God again!
