Over the last several months the Minuteman’s Minute has done two posts chronicling the ongoing lawsuit in the State of South Carolina where a single private Citizen, Mr. Brian Bilbro, has chosen to sue the Governor, the State Department of Social Services and two of the not-for-profit “religious” organizations over the SC State Refugee Resettlement Plan. They can be found here- https://4pba.com/of-refugees-and-us-citizens/ and here- https://4pba.com/of-refugees-and-us-citizens-continued/
Well yesterday, June 20, 2016, was the next step in the process when Mr. Bilbro’s attorney, Ms. Lauren Martel, filed their amended complaint in US District Court in Columbia, SC. This is necessary because the Governor and her fellow defendants requested the case be moved from the State Court to the Federal Court. Well because of this move and the now expanded scope of the case, the list of defendants needed to be expanded. This is the new list-

Yes my friends, I have to believe the whole “Refugee Resettlement” World rocked on its axis yesterday. I wonder if the Governor’s legal counsel anticipated that when they moved this case to Federal Court that one of their new Co-defendants would be one President Barack Hussein Obama? Or DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson? Or Attorney General Loretta Lynch? Or the half-dozen plus of the “alphabet soup” bureaucracies of the Federal Government named? Not to mention most every cabinet-level department of South Carolina State Government? I have to guess they didn’t see this one coming. Reminds me of one of my Mother’s favorite sayings when I was growing up, “Son, be careful what you ask for because you just might get it!”
In addition to filing the Amended Complaint, there were also several expert witness affidavits filed by Ms. Martel from esteemed individuals such as Ms. Jessica M. Vaughn- http://cis.org/Vaughan Mr. Michael W. Cutler- http://michaelcutler.net and Mr. Paul Sutliff- http://paulsutliff.blogspot.com to provide supporting evidence of the claims in the lawsuit.
So, where does this go from here and what can We The People do? The next court action is when the Defendants are due to provide their reply by July 18. And what can we do? First, as I’ve said before, Pray! Also, since the Plaintiffs are “self-financing” and could use any help you might find yourself wanting to contribute, Ms. Martel has set up an escrow account just for this purpose. Please make checks payable to “Lauren Martel” and note “Refugee Lawsuit” in the subject line. Mail them to Martel Law, 2 Corpus Christi Place, Suite 200 Professional Building, Hilton Head, SC 29928. My fellow US Citizens, this is a battle we must win and I hope you will help!
